Our Services
We are an advanced veterinary services hospital specializing in geriatric care, exotics, feline medicine & surgery, and all of the healthcare needs for your canine companion. Pet boarding services available too. Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of regular preventative care. Diagnosing problems early increases the lifespan and quality-of-life for your pet, and saves you money. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best. We are the only AAHA accredited referral hospital in either Maine or New Hampshire. We also have the only board certified feline specialist and board certified exotic companion mammal specialist in either state.
Examinations
Our nurses spend a significant amount of time with each patient, taking a complete history and establishing your pet’s database including blood pressure, heart rate, body weight, and temperature. Then each animal will receive a “nose to tail” physical examining every body system: eyes, ears, nose, mouth, gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, urinary, musculoskeletal, endocrine, and skin. Only at Animal Medical Associates can you have a board certified specialist examine your animal at no additional cost!
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services

Anesthesia
We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures. Our team of well trained nurses take pride in closely monitoring every anesthetized patient from the time they enter our facility until they are discharged back into your care.
Internal medicine, ultrasounds, and oncology
We offer on-site ultrasounds which helps us with the diagnosis of more complicated cases in a non-invasive manner. We also have a consulting oncologist to help review and tailor chemotherapy protocols for our cancer patients - helping them to maximize their quality lifespan. Most procedures can be done at our facility, under the supervision or guidance of a boarded specialist.
